Area gang member is headed to prison
CONCORD – The Hells Angels gang member who reportedly sold drugs in Merrimack, among other locations, is going to federal prison for 39 months after he was sentenced Thursday in U.S. Federal Court in Concord.
James Cunningham, 61, of Laconia, pleaded guilty in January to charges he sold methamphetamines. According to court records, Cunningham sold the drugs to a confidential informant in Manchester and Merrimack during the federal law enforcement investigation into criminal motorcycle gangs.
Cunningham was arrested along with three other men, all involved in motorcycle gangs, as part of an effort by the FBI’s New Hampshire Safe Streets Gang Task Force to stem the tide of drugs and violence associated with these organizations.
“Today, Mr. Cunningham, a member of the notorious Hells Angel biker gang, will begin paying the price for the irreparable harm that his drug trafficking caused within our communities,” said Harold Shaw, special agent in charge, FBI Boston Division. “The FBI New Hampshire Safe Streets Gang Task Force will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to do everything we can to rid our neighborhoods of illegal narcotics and the violence that comes along with it.”
Cunningham was arrested last year along with Harry Bolton, 63 of Milford, Kenneth Bailey, 52, and Timothy Raxter, 52, of Tilton. Bolton, a reputed leader of the Milford & Company Motorcycle Club, pleaded guilty to 11 counts of federal drug dealing. He was sentenced to time served.
Bailey pleaded guilty to six counts of dealing methamphetamines, and was sentenced to 18 months in prison earlier this year. Raxter was arrested following a domestic violence incident in which police found a bag with more than $4,000, methamphetamines and a loaded handgun in his car. He was sentenced to 57 months in prison after pleading to the gun and drug charges.
