Pelham announces new superintendent
PELHAM – After a three month search involving a search committee, multiple rounds of interviews and several full-day visits, the Pelham School Board announced Monday that William Furbush will serve as the new Pelham Superintendent of Schools, effective July 1.
Furbush is the current Assistant Superintendent from SAU 16 in Exeter.
SAU 16 serves seven districts, and Furbush oversees Brentwood and Newfields, according to Thomas Gellar, chair of the Pelham School Board.
He has also served as a principal, assistant principal and middle school teacher.
“We are very fortunate to make this appointment this early in the school year and look forward
to welcoming Mr. Furbush to the Pelham School District in July,” Gellar said in a press release.
Current Interim Superintendent Betsey Cox-Buteau will continue to oversee the district until Furbush starts in July.
The school board will meet with him over the summer to discuss goals and objectives, Gellar said.
“We are very excited to be able to make this announcement and we feel confident that, under his leadership, the Pelham School District will come ever closer to achieving its mission of ‘inspiring success one mind at a time,'” he said.
