Mill Stores furniture outlet in Nashua to shut as company consolidates

By Staff | Sep 13, 2014

NASHUA – Mill Stores, a Massachusetts-based retailer of unfinished furniture, will close its Nashua location this year, part of a consolidation of the chain.

“We don’t have the exact date,” said Cameron Doucette, of Nashua, a stockroom clerk at the store in the West Side Plaza, Route 101A, who said store management had been told it would close by the end of the year.

Vicki Small, an official at the corporate office in Hyannisport, Mass., would confirm only that the Nashua store and some other stores would close. No other information was available,
despite the store releasing brochures for “store closing sale” that say that nine stores, including the other New Hampshire store in Stratham, will be shut.

Most of the 51-year-old company’s stores are located in Massachusetts, but it also has stores in Kingstown, R.I., and
Manchester, Conn.

The firm sells furniture from stools to sheds to dining room sets that must be finished or painted by the buyer. It also includes finished services in which people can select their own color combinations and finish.

The company also sells mattresses, linen, upholstered furniture and other items, including outdoor shower kits, cupolas and mailboxes.

West Side Plaza is anchored by Market Basket and Big Lot.

The Nashua store has about 12 employees, Doucette said.
