Bishop Guertin names Jason Strniste as new principal

By Staff | May 12, 2014

Jason Strniste signed on last week to be the new principal of Bishop Guertin High School.

“I’m really excited and honored. BG is a great school,” Strniste said. “It has great academics and faith-based environment. (The school) recognizes the talent of their students. BG is pushing the envelope on excellence.”

Strniste said he feels particularly strong about his new position at BG.

“I have a personal connection to the school,” he said.

He attended BG’s sister school, Mount Saint Charles Academy in Woonsocket, R.I. Both schools are in the network of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart.

After his time at Mount Saint Charles, he earned an undergraduate degree from Dartmouth before moving on to the University of New Hampshire for his Masters in Educational Administration.

Fresh out of Dartmouth, Strniste began his career with St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Dover. He has spent the last 11 years with St. Thomas in a variety of roles from teaching sciences to summer program director. He’s currently serving as associate principal for academics.

“I know I’m coming into a strong school,” Strniste said. “I’m getting to know them, their strengths. I’m going to help them be the best they can be.”

Strniste begins his new role at Bishop Guertin on July 1.
