Nashua’s Evolution nightclub open for business
NASHUA – The auction at the Evolution Entertainment Complex, 522 Amherst St., on Tuesday is being held to sell used equipment the owners no longer need – and the club has no plans to close, owner Bernie Goulet said Saturday.
Notice of the auction, being done by A-1 Restaurant Traders of Peabody, Mass., prompted Friday’s Page 1 Telegraph story questioning whether the auction could mean the club is closing.
“The nature of the auction is a lot of used equipment we don’t need,” Goulet said Saturday. “We’re not closing. As a matter of fact, we were open last night and we’ll be open tonight, too.”
Goulet said a lot of the items going up for bid are from the kitchen.
“It’s a huge kitchen, but we’re not doing a full-service restaurant like (previous owners) had, so we’re looking to sell what we don’t need,” he said.
Goulet, principal along with Steve Santoro, of Bernie and Steve Entertainment Enterprise, said the entity bought the club in March and opened in April. The space, in the Gold’s Gym Plaza, housed a club called The Junkyard for about a year until its December closing. Goulet said Evolution features a variety of entertainment, from under-21 nights to appearances by rock bands such as Saliva, a nationally known hard rock and hip-hop blend scheduled for Sunday, June 2.
Weekends are typically a dance club format, Goulet said, with occasional under-21 nights mixed in.
