Skate, snowshoe fun

There are plenty of ways to warm up and have fun in the cold weather this winter thanks to the Parks and Recreation Department.

The city has four public ice skating rinks, which will be open subject to weather conditions. They are:

Roby Park, Spit Brook Road – General skating, 10 a.m.-8 p.m., with no hockey during these hours; hockey hours are 8-10 p.m.

Four Corners, Manchester Street – General skating, 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and 6-10 p.m.; hockey before 11 a.m. and 4:30-6 p.m.

Rancourt Street – General skating, 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and 6-10 p.m.; hockey before 11 a.m. and 4:30-6 p.m.

Labine, Cleveland Street, next to Fairgrounds Middle School – Hockey only, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.

The Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with the Nashua Senior Activity Center, also will hold a snowshoe program.

The program will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday. An informational meeting will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Nashua Senior Activity Center.

The program will be held Wednesdays and Fridays starting at the Lincoln Park entrance to Mine Falls Park. It will run through February, depending on snow cover.

Participants must provide their own snowshoes and should dress in layers.
