1 arrested, 2 injured in Wednesday Hudson crash
HUDSON – A Hudson woman involved in a three-car accident on Lowell Road Wednesday evening was arrested and charged with drunk driving after running a red light and causing the crash, police said.
Police and firefighters were called to the intersection of Lowell Road and Sagamore Bridge Road around 8:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a serious accident.
Police said a 2002 Jeep Liberty operated by Penny Cicero, 47, was headed north on Lowell Road when it barrelled through the intersection and demolished a 2005 Dodge Neon driven by Kristi Boily, 43, of Nashua.
Boily’s car came to a rest across the southbound lanes of Lowell Road, about 10 yards south of Cicero’s Jeep Liberty.
The Neon showed heavy drivers side damage while the Jeep had moderate front-end damage.
Boily was pinned in her car and had to be extricated. It took firefighters about 10 minutes to free her from the vehicle.
A third vehicle, a 2004 Ford Escape, had minor involvement in the crash. Its driver, Rachel Scanzani, 31, of Hudson was not injured, police said.
Boily was transported by Hudson paramedics to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua for treatment of what police described as serious injuries. Her condition was unclear as of Thursday night.
Police said Cicero was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua for treatment of injuries that were not life threatening.
Police later charged Cicero with one count of aggravated driving while intoxicated and the traffic light violation, police said. She will be arraigned on a date to be determined
Police closed the southbound lanes of Lowell Road for about an hour, sending all traffic onto Sagamore Bridge Road. On the other side, all traffic coming into Hudson from Sagamore Bridge Road was diverted south on Lowell Road.
