2 arrested, charged over selling cocaine
NASHUA –Two city residents were arrested Tuesday and accused of selling and conspiring to sell cocaine.
The Nashua police Problem Oriented Policing Unit arrested Jose Gonzalez-Vazquez, 58, and Angela Escalera, 54, both of 16 Perham St., Nashua, around 6:30 p.m. following a month-long investigation by narcotics detectives, police said.
Both are charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and three counts each of unlawful sale of a narcotic drug, cocaine and conspiracy to the unlawful sale of a narcotic drug, cocaine. All of the charges are Class B felonies, police said.
A search of Gonzalez-Vazquez and Escalera’s home turned up a small amount of cocaine, drug paraphernalia and cash, police said.
Gozalez-Vazquez and Escalera are accused of selling cocaine to either undercover narcotics officers or cooperating informants. Both were street-level dealers, according to Nashua police Lt. Scott Hammond.
Both were held on $35,000 cash or surety bail pending an arraignment at Nashua District Court on Wednesday, police said.
Each of the Class B felonies are punishable by up to seven years in prison plus fines, police said.
