Pair face resisting arrest, attempted theft charges
MERRIMACK – Two Nashua men accused of fleeing police Monday face charges of resisting arrest and attempted theft after they attempted to rob a Merrimack home, police said.
After an extended search, police located William Giordani, of 29 Ash St., and Michael McMakin, of Railroad Square, hiding in the woods around Thornton Road West and Tinker Road.
The two men, both 42, attempted to steal tools from a house on Thornton Road West, but the home owner found one man hiding on his property, forcing him to flee into the woods, according to Merrimack police Sgt. Matthew Tarleton.
Officers, assisted by Nashua police and state troopers, set up a perimeter and searched the area, finding McMakin hiding in the woods.
They then noticed Giordani hiding and chased him into the woods near Tinker Road, where they eventually found him and placed him under arrest, according to Tarleton.
Giordani was held on $30,000 cash bail, while McMakin, who was also found to be in possession of five pills without a prescription, was held on $20,000 bail.
Both men area scheduled to appear this morning in Merrimack District Court.
Anyone with any information about the men are requested to call Merrimack police at 424-3774.
