NH four-star Army general David Perkins at NH Military Coaching Alliance: Transition to civilian life presents challenges, but also great opportunities

By Staff | Aug 26, 2023

PORTSMOUTH – Gen. David Perkins (retired) addressed the New Hampshire Military Coaching Alliance (NHMCA) at a reception held at the One Hundred Club in Portsmouth on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. General Perkins, a New Hampshire native, served as the commander of the U.S. Army’s Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) from March 2014 to March 2018.

During the event, which was hosted by Portsmouth-based federal insurance and benefits administrator FedPoint, General Perkins praised the NHMCA for its work bringing together military members transitioning to civilian life with civilian mentors. He noted military members are uniquely suited for civilian success because of their military training.

“Transitions mark a change of focus and shifting priorities which require planning and preparation well before their execution. Transitions can be a time of great opportunity to seize and maintain the initiative or present great challenges if not anticipated or adequately prepared for,” Perkins said at the event.

FedPoint Chief Executive Officer Paul Forte stated, “For veterans like General Perkins, their service does not stop just because their time in uniform has ended. General Perkins’ commitment to helping veterans with the often-difficult transition is admirable. FedPoint is proud to partner with the New Hampshire Military Coaching Alliance and veterans like General Perkins to help those who served make a meaningful transition into civilian life.”
