WASHINGTON – The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) recently announced that it is expanding eligibility for veterans to get breast cancer screenings, which is required under the Dr. Kate Hendricks Thomas SERVICE Act. Senator Hassan cosponsored the bipartisan bill, and it was signed into law last year.
“I am pleased that the VA has moved forward in implementing the bipartisan Dr. Kate Hendricks Thomas SERVICE Act, which will help ensure that veterans exposed to toxic substances can get screened for breast cancer earlier in their lives,” said Senator Hassan. “We know that early screenings can save lives, and I encourage veterans to reach out to their VA doctor or local VA medical center to get screened.”
