Kuster advocates for American energy independence

By Staff | Feb 1, 2023

WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02), a Member of the prominent Energy and Commerce Committee, participated in an Energy Full Committee hearing on the future of American energy independence and technology. During the hearing, Kuster advocated for achieving a more diverse energy portfolio through bipartisan legislation and cooperation in Congress.

“Republicans and Democrats share many of the same goals when it comes to strengthening our nation’s energy resources,” said Kuster. “We believe that all Americans should have access to low-cost, reliable energy that does not depend on foreign resources or technologies. As we strengthen American energy independence, this Committee should not overlook the potential of our nation’s hydropower and renewable resources to deliver abundant and reliable clean energy.”

“Last Congress, we passed historic legislation to invest in our country’s clean energy future and put the U.S. back on track to lead the clean energy economy,” Kuster continued. “I am confident that by working across the aisle, we can find common ground and continue this progress in the 118th Congress to strengthen our energy independence, and lower costs for Americans across the country.”

Kuster is an outspoken leader on the importance of an all-of-the-above energy portfolio for the United States. A key advocate for the Inflation Reduction Act in the 117th Congress, she helped deliver $369 billion for domestic clean energy production and greenhouse gas elimination. Kuster also helped pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to invest $1.2 trillion in our nation’s infrastructure, including for clean energy, electric grid resiliency, electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, and environmental remediation.
