Kuster elected to chair new Democrat coalition in 118th Congress, highlights priorities

By Staff | Dec 2, 2022

WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02) was elected by her fellow New Democrat Coalition (NDC) colleagues to lead the Coalition in the 118th Congress. Kuster has served as NDC Vice Chair of Communications since 2019 and has been a member of the Coalition since 2013. Going into the 118th Congress, NDC will include 96 Members of Congress. Following her election, Kuster released the following statement:

“I am honored and grateful to my colleagues for the opportunity to Chair the New Dem Coalition in the 118th Congress. New Dems have been the majority makers – this November, it was Members of the New Dem Coalition who stopped the much-heralded ‘red wave’ in its tracks. The narrower-than-anticipated GOP margin gives us tremendous leverage to govern from the middle and deliver real results for our constituents. I will work with all corners of the Coalition to stand united against radical policies that will move our country backward and my focus will be advancing our common-sense legislative priorities.

“As Chair, I am committed to supporting the priorities of each of our Members and their unique districts, strengthening the diversity of our membership, expanding our reach through bipartisan collaboration when possible, and protecting our Members to win back the majority in 2024. As we confront the opportunities and the challenges of the 118th Congress, New Dems will continue to deliver results for hard-working families across the country.”
