MANCHESTER – Facing two counts of perjury for allegedly lying to a grand jury, Kayla Montgomery, the stepmom of murdered 5-year-old Harmony Montgomery, has reached a plea agreement with prosecutors and is scheduled to be sentenced Friday in Hillsborough County Superior Court North.

Kayla Montgomery, 31, has agreed to plead guilty to the two perjury counts in exchange for a term of roughly 1-1/2 years in the State Prison for Women. Attorney Paul Garrity, who is representing Kayla Montgomery, filed the sentencing documents in court yesterday.

Montgomery’s former husband, Adam Montgomery, has recently been charged with killing Harmony, his then 5-year-old daughter and Kayla’s stepdaughter. He is also charged, in a separate case, with numerous firearms-related offenses, including theft and armed career criminal.

Kayla’s perjury charges are not related to Harmony’s murder case, but stem from allegations that Kayla lied about certain work locations and time frames.
