CONCORD – Ahead of today’s House vote on the Inflation Reduction Act, U.S. Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02) is highlighting the bill’s inclusion of her bipartisan legislation to eliminate out-of-pocket costs for vaccines for seniors. On Sunday, the Senate passed the Inflation Reduction Act, which includes Rep. Kuster’s bipartisan Protecting Seniors Through Immunization Act — a bill she introduced alongside her Republican colleague, Rep. Larry Buschon (IN-08), to ensure that seniors can receive CDC-recommended vaccines at no cost.

“I’m thrilled that my legislation to reduce health care costs for Granite State seniors was included in the Senate-passed Inflation Reduction Act,” said Rep. Kuster. “I was proud to work across the aisle on the Protecting Seniors Through Immunizations Act to ensure access to life-saving vaccinations for Medicare beneficiaries without out-of-pocket costs. I look forward to passing my bill as a provision of the Inflation Reduction Act — transformative legislation to lower health care costs, reduce household energy spending, and tackle climate change while strengthening our economy.”

Kuster’s Protecting Seniors Through Immunizations Act, which is included in the Inflation Reduction Act, eliminates out-of-pocket costs for vaccines covered under Medicare Part D. Immunization coverage currently varies by vaccine under Medicare, and this legislation would provide Medicare beneficiaries access to all recommended vaccines at no additional cost, including shingles and tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap).
