U.S. Rep Chris Pappas

WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas (NH-01) helped pass bipartisan legislation to provide comprehensive aid to Ukraine. This legislation would deliver significant resources to Ukraine, including security assistance to bolster Ukrainian and NATO defenses, economic assistance to support Ukraine’s economy, and humanitarian assistance to combat global food insecurity and rising food prices as a result of Russia’s continued invasion of Ukraine.

“This comprehensive aid package will ensure Ukraine has the resources it needs to continue fighting back against Putin’s invasion in the months to come,” said Congressman Chris Pappas. “As Ukraine continues to successfully repel Russian forces, now is the time for us to double down in support of Ukraine’s fight to defend its sovereignty. There is no doubt Putin has committed war crimes. Ukraine continues to discover mass graves and Russia continues to indiscriminately target civilians. We too must continue to stand with the people of Ukraine against these atrocities and in defense of democracy. I urge the Senate to swiftly take up this legislation so we can deliver this aid to our ally.”

Pappas previously helped pass bipartisan legislation to speed the delivery of needed weapons systems to Ukraine and enhance existing lend-lease authorities; as well as legislation to revoke free trade privileges from Russia, ban Russian energy imports, and extend U.S. sanctions against violators of human rights and corrupt actors.

Following price spikes as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Pappas has repeatedly called on the Administration to use every tool available to cut energy costs and bolster supplies, including releasing additional barrels from our strategic reserves, encouraging lease holders to fully utilize existing permits, holding oil companies accountable, and suspending the gas tax to give Granite State families relief.
