Kuster, Shaheen, Hassan issue statements on of Veterans Day 2021

By Staff | Nov 11, 2021

CONCORD — Ahead of Veterans Day 2021, Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02) issued the following statement:

“On this Veterans Day, I join Americans across the country in honoring the courageous men and women here in New Hampshire and across the United States who served our nation in uniform, as well as those who never returned home. The sacrifice our veterans, active-duty service members, and military families undertake is unmatched and truly embodies the best of our country. It is an honor to advocate on their behalf in Congress and to ensure our veterans have the resources and support they need and deserve when they return to civilian life.

“To all the brave soldiers, sailors, airmen, guardsmen, and marines who put their lives on the line to keep us safe, thank you.”

U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) released the following statement ahead of Veterans Day. Tomorrow, Senator Shaheen will deliver remarks at the Portsmouth Veterans Day Ceremony.

“The exceptional sacrifice our service members make to keep our country safe cannot be overstated, and we are forever indebted to all veterans and their families. The heroism of our service members was recently on vivid display in Afghanistan during the dangerous evacuation mission – including the 13 service members who made the ultimate sacrifice. I’m especially keeping all of our Afghan veterans and their families who served on the frontlines to protect Americans and our partners in my thoughts during what has been a tremendously challenging time for them,” Shaheen said.

She continued: “The men and women in Afghanistan and those still serving in uniform today follow in the footsteps of the heroes who came before them. That includes the likes of Roger Campbell and the late Francis Byrne – two of New Hampshire’s finest who served during World War II and earned the Congressional Gold Medal and Purple Heart, respectively. There is nothing I take more seriously than my obligation as a U.S. Senator to provide for our veterans. From ensuring veterans have access to the physical and mental health treatment they need to connecting them with good-paying jobs that ease their transition back to civilian life, I’ll always prioritize delivering the benefits Granite State veterans earned and deserve. Today and every day, I’m grateful for the heroic service of our veterans in New Hampshire and across the nation.”

U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan

U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan released the following statement ahead of Veterans Day:

“As we mark Veterans Day, we honor the service and sacrifice of those who have bravely served our country to keep us safe, secure, and free. Importantly, we must also reflect on and recommit ourselves to the values that all veterans have fought for. At a time when we see far too much division, it’s important to remember that our nation’s veterans answered the call to serve their fellow citizens without regard to walk of life or political party. They stood guard, fought, and sacrificed simply because – and always because – we are Americans, and because freedom, liberty, and justice are worth fighting for.”
