Pappas issues statement on bipartisan vote to hold Steve Bannon in contempt of Congress
WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas (NH-01) issued the following statement after voting to hold Steve Bannon in contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with a subpoena issued by the bipartisan Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol:
“The only way to achieve accountability and prevent crises like the one we witnessed on January 6th from happening again is to have a full accounting of events that occurred before, during, and after the insurrection,” said Congressman Chris Pappas. “Failure to comply with a Congressional subpoena is a serious matter that jeopardizes the ability of the Select Committee to safeguard the U.S. Capitol and our democracy. This is about protecting our country, our Constitution, and our institutions. I hope today’s vote helps ensure full cooperation with the bipartisan Select Committee’s subpoenas moving forward so that the committee can continue to pursue their work on behalf of the American people.”
