U.S. Rep Annie Kuster

WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02), a Member of the Energy and Commerce Energy Subcommittee, participated in a hearing entitled, “Offshore Wind, Onshore Benefits: Growing the Domestic Wind Energy Industry.” During her line of questioning, Rep. Kuster heard from industry experts who emphasized that offshore wind has the potential to improve the reliability of New England’s electricity transmission system and reduce electric bills for consumers.

“Offshore wind is good for workers, the economy, and our planet, and I am proud to work with my colleagues on this Subcommittee and with the Biden-Harris administration to advance policies that promote renewable energy and reduce carbon emissions,” said Rep. Kuster. “According to research by Environment America, offshore wind could more than meet the New England region’s future needs, which would be an incredible boon for our clean energy economy and our planet. I will continue working with Granite State partners and advocates to embrace renewable energy production for generations to come.”

Rep. Kuster is a leader in Congress to bolster renewable energy production while conserving our environment. Today, she published an op-ed alongside Sen. Maggie Hassan in support of Kuster’s legislation, the Twenty-First Century Dams Act. This bill would incentivize investments to reduce environmental impacts and improve the generation efficiency of our nation’s dams, which will help ensure that hydropower continues to provide renewable energy for decades to come.
