Kuster honors the more than 500,000 Americans who have died as a result of COVID-19

By Staff | Feb 23, 2021

CONCORD – U.S. Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02) issued the following statement after the death toll of the COVID-19 pandemic surpassed 500,000 in the United States:

“Today, just over a year after our nation’s first confirmed COVID-19-related death, we have lost more than 500,000 Americans to this virus. Over 28 million people across the country have been infected, and the far-reaching effects of the pandemic have taken a devastating toll on our families and communities in New Hampshire. My heart breaks for the families, friends, and loved ones of the half-million Americans who have lost their lives as a result of COVID-19. This tragic loss of life is a solemn reminder that although we have made great strides towards crushing this virus, the pandemic is not over.

“We all must continue to take precautions to slow the spread and keep our communities safe. Our health care workers and first responders, small businesses, working families, and nursing facilities need more support to weather the storm. I am working in Congress to get the American Rescue Plan over the finish line and get relief to those who need it most. As we continue working to crush this pandemic, we all have a role to play to help save lives, including wearing masks, avoiding crowds and practicing physical distancing, frequent hand washing, and getting the COVID vaccine when it is available to us. There is light at the end of the tunnel, and while I am incredibly saddened by this grim milestone, I know that we will get through this, together.”
