Bettina Weiss joins Elect Democratic Women as executive director
WASHINGTON – Elect Democratic Women (EDW) is excited to announce hiring Bettina Weiss as Executive Director. In this capacity, Bettina will be leading the organization’s operations during the 2021-2022 midterm cycle in supporting women candidates running for Congress. Her responsibilities as Executive Director include working with EDW’s partnerships with other Democratic organizations, building relationships with women candidates running for office, and monitoring congressional races across the country. Bettina previously served as Campaign Manager for Rep. Abigail Spanberger’s successful re-election bid in 2020 and led the Congresswoman’s transition team after her historic win in 2018. Previously she worked on Rep. Gwen Graham’s Florida gubernatorial campaign and at Giffords, Rep. Gabby Gifford’s gun violence prevention organization.

She has dedicated her political career to electing more women to Congress, she’s a fierce advocate for policies that will improve the lives of women and their families, and we’re thrilled that she will be joining us in our mission,” said Elect Democratic Women’s Chair, Rep. Lois Frankel.
In its first full cycle, EDW raised over $8.4 million from more than 300,000 grassroots supporters, placing the organization among the top three raising Democratic Caucus PACs. During the 2020 cycle, EDW supported 106 women candidates running for office, including 43 incumbent House Congressmembers, 58 House candidates, 3 incumbent Senators, and 5 Senate candidates. EDW also supported Vice President Kamala Harris via the Biden-Harris Campaign, House Majority PAC, EMILY’s List, and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
Elect Democratic Women was founded by leading Members of Congress to elect more Democratic women to the House and Senate, and with a recognition that women legislators bring a unique and vital perspective to solving the urgent challenges facing our nation’s women and their families. By electing more Democratic women to Congress, we will have a more fair, just, and equitable society for all Americans. Elect Democratic Women endorsed candidates include veterans, health care professionals, teachers, entrepreneurs, and social justice advocates.
