Hassan releases statement on President-Elect Biden’s newly announced COVID-19 emergency relief plan

By Staff | Jan 15, 2021

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan released the following statement after President-elect Joe Biden unveiled his American Rescue Plan to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic:

“When I joined my colleagues across the aisle to negotiate a COVID-19 package at the end of last year, it was clear that the targeted, short-term relief that we secured was not going to be enough to get us through this crisis. We expected President-elect Biden to propose a plan to control the virus and get our economy back on track. I look forward to reviewing the details of the proposal, but I am glad that President-elect Biden announced significant investments in vaccine distribution, additional direct relief to families and businesses, and much-needed aid to state and local governments that will help prevent further layoffs of teachers and public safety personnel.

“I was also encouraged that the proposal includes emergency funding to strengthen federal cybersecurity in the wake of the unprecedented SolarWinds breach. I urge my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to come together so that we can build on our bipartisan efforts to address the COVID-19 public health and economic crisis and work with the incoming Biden administration to deliver crucial relief to the American people.”
