New Hampshire Lottery surpasses $200M in total sports wagering

By Staff | Nov 14, 2020

CONCORD – In less than a year, the New Hampshire Lottery has surpassed $200 million in total sports wagering. As of Monday, November 9, more than 52,000 customers have registered in New Hampshire and made over 6 million bets, totaling more than $205.1 million. New Hampshire Lottery and DraftKings launched mobile sports betting in New Hampshire on Dec. 30, 2019, and have since opened two retail sportsbook destinations where players can place bets in person; DraftKings Sportsbook at The Brook in Seabrook and DraftKings Sportsbook at Manchester at the Filotimo Casino & Restaurant.

“The success of sports betting in New Hampshire represents success for our entire state, as revenue from sports betting directly benefits education in New Hampshire,” said Governor Chris Sununu.

“I have said repeatedly that sports betting is the right bet for the Granite State, and seeing the New Hampshire Lottery surpass $200 million in total sports wagering in less than a year clearly demonstrates the tremendous demand. We have worked hard to establish New Hampshire as the premier destination for sports betting in the northeast and I congratulate the New Hampshire Lottery and DraftKings for reaching this milestone so quickly.”

Players have wagered more than $193 million through the DraftKings online sportsbook, and the two retail sportsbook destinations have generated approximately $11.5 million in wagering over the last two months. DraftKings Sportsbook at The Brook opened in August 2020, and DraftKings Sportsbook at Manchester opened in September 2020.

“We are pleased with the initial success of sports betting in New Hampshire, which allows the New Hampshire Lottery to further expand our support for education in the Granite State,” said Charlie McIntyre, Executive Director, New Hampshire Lottery.

“With the NFL and college football seasons in full swing, and with the upcoming NBA season slated to start before Christmas, we are continuing to drive momentum with this new way to play the New Hampshire Lottery. In New Hampshire, football fans are fortunate to have two home teams, as our players have bet heavily on both the New England Patriots and Tom Brady’s new team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.”

The NFL and college football have been the biggest sports betting drivers this fall, as the New Hampshire Lottery is currently averaging about $4 million in mobile bets each weekend. Looking ahead, the New Hampshire Lottery is anticipating the next NBA season will support continued sports betting growth.

“While it is difficult to predict what the future holds for the sports world given the evolving situation with COVID-19, we are anticipating being able to build on our sports betting success throughout this fall and winter, all the while maximizing revenue for our schools,” McIntyre continued.

DraftKings Sportsbook at The Brook was the first retail destination for sports betting to open in the Granite State. Outfitted with betting kiosks, video walls, and a live sports ticker, the sportsbook exists within The Brook’s “Stadium” sports entertainment space.

DraftKings Sportsbook at Manchester, which offers a retail destination in southern New Hampshire for sports betting, features betting kiosks, wall-to-wall TVs, and seating for groups large and small.

New Hampshire residents can download the DraftKings Sportsbook app to place wagers through DraftKings, which is the exclusive digital operator in New Hampshire. Sports fans can place bets on the DraftKings Sportsbook app via iOS and Android or online at Sportsbook.DraftKings.com.
