U.S. Rep Annie Kuster

WASHINGTON – The House of Representatives passed the Clean Economy Jobs and Innovation Act, an ambitious proposal to transition the US to a clean energy future and cut carbon pollution. The Kuster-backed proposal includes grants to local communities to improve the energy efficiency of schools, homes, and municipal buildings, investments to deploy more clean energy technology and historic support for the electrification of our transportation sector. The House adopted an amendment to the bill, offered by Rep. Kuster, to double funding for a nationwide job training program that will help students and unemployed Americans learn the skills they need to enter the clean energy workforce.

“As wildfires rage in the West, hurricanes devastate the Gulf Coast, and drought leaves large parts of the Granite State parched, climate change is making life more difficult for Americans,” said Kuster. “The Clean Economy Jobs and Innovation Act is an historic piece of legislation that will create jobs in the clean energy sector and reduce harmful carbon pollution that jeopardizes the health of our planet. I am proud the House adopted my amendment to double funding for the energy workforce program. With more than 12 million Americans unemployed, this provision will help Granite Staters learn the skills they need to land good-paying jobs in the energy industry.”

Rep. Kuster has championed carbon-reduction efforts during her time in Congress. In January, she released her Clean Energy Agenda, which contained many proposals that the House included in the Clean Economy Jobs and Innovation Act.
