Bradley pleased Senate finally protects N.H. teenagers from sexual predators

By Staff | Jun 30, 2020

CONCORD – the New Hampshire Senate passed HB 1240, relative to the grounds for sexual assault and related offenses. An effort to protect pregnant women from discrimination in the workplace failed 14-10 with all democrats voting in opposition. Senator Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro) issued the following statement:

“One of the most important things we can do as a society is protect children from abuse,” said Senator Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro). “It is time for us to remove this stain on New Hampshire for not protecting teenagers from sexual predators and I am pleased we came together and got this done. This bill would not have passed if it were not for the continued steadfast support by Governor Sununu, Senator Sharon Carson and Amanda Grady Sexton with the Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence. Without that key support this needed legislation would have been tragically stymied by politics. I would also like to commend Ana Goble, the student at Concord High School, who had the courage to stand up and speak out when she saw a fellow student being abused by a teacher.”

“It was a bitter disappointment that we could not bridge petty partisan politics to bring protections for pregnant women in the workplace after a previous 24-0 vote in the senate. Partisanship failed working pregnant mothers,” Bradley added.
