ALC duo to speak at conference

By Staff | Dec 17, 2015

NASHUA – The Adult Learning Center announced that two employees in the School Age Adventures Program have been chosen as presenters at the National Afterschool Association convention taking place in March in Orlando, Fla.

Lois Parsons, coordinator of School Age Care, and Christina Bunis, Adventure Camp coordinator, will speak at the convention, which will host more than 2,000 after-school professionals. Their presentation is titled "Recharging Your Super Heroes," which focuses on after-school program staff retention.

ALC Executive Director Carol Baldwin said being asked to present at the convention "is a great honor for Lois and Christina and for the ALC. We are very proud of the work they do to make our School Age Adventures Programs so well respected and popular, and we are thrilled to have them share their success with our colleagues."

ALC School Age Adventures provides before- and after-school care to elementary school children in Nashua, Hudson, Litchfield, Merrimack, and at Hollis Primary School and Hollis Upper Elementary School.

The ALC also runs after-school programs – "Club Mid" – at Hudson Memorial School, Elm Street Middle School, Fairgrounds Middle School and Pennichuck Middle School. The programs strive to promote the healthy social and academic development of children, and to help families by allowing parents to work knowing that their children are safe and happy.

Adventure Camp provides a safe, caring and fun environment where children participate in a variety of activities, sports, cooperative play and field trips during school vacations and summer breaks. Parents can work without worry and children can experience the joys of out-of-school time with friends.
