PMA singers attend UNH workshop

By Staff | Oct 29, 2015

HUDSON – The junior high a cappella group Wicked Sharp at Presentation of Mary Academy attended the "Voices of the (603)" workshop at the University of New Hampshire on Friday, Oct. 9.

The event, now in its sixth year, included an all-day workshop for a cappella singers, followed by a concert and competition that night at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord.

The girls learned about many aspects of a cappella, including lyrics, stage presence, vocals and beatboxing. They were inspired by performances from more than a dozen New Hampshire high school, college and amateur a cappella groups.

In addition, the group has been working on a video for the Macy’s All-School A Cappella Challenge. The contest requires participants to create a video of their a cappella performance of "I Want You Back" by the Jackson 5.

Junior high math teacher Adam Shaw and music teacher Maria Gonzalez are helping the group with their performance and video.
