The Brookline Lions Club will hold a back-to-school supply drive to benefit Brookline students and to be distributed through the food pantry. Collection will be held through Sept. 5. There will be collection boxes at the Brookline Post Office, public library and general store. New, unused items needed are: Binders (1.5-inch, 2-inch, 3-inch), dividers (5 tab and 8 tab), two-pocket folders, subject notebooks (1, 2 and 3), composition notebooks, index cards, Post-it Notes, filler paper, pens, No. 2 pencils, highlighter markers, erasers, pencil sharpeners, staplers, calculators, pencil boxes or pouches and thumb/USB flash drives; for the middle and high school lockers, locker organizer shelves; and backpacks to carry all suggested items. Beaver Brook summer camps are offered through Aug. 14 for students ages 4-16. All classes have unique themes and expose children to a wide variety of natural places. Children will be exploring, learning and playing or creating outside – building forts in the forest, catching frogs, taking pictures, hiking, drawing, going on field trips, learning survival skills, gardening or other outdoor fun. New offerings include Camp Cuisine, A Week in the Woods, Forest Village, Outdoor Explorers and Frogs, Turtles, Snakes, Oh My! Forest Freetime is 3-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, following each camp session. HUDSON LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP
The Hudson Lions Club is awarding the eighth annual Ron Boisvert $1,000 scholarship to a Hudson resident who is continuing his or her education in the medical field. Boisvert was a member of the Hudson Lions Club from 1983 until he succumbed to cancer in 2006 at age 68. Although quiet and a man of few words, he went about volunteering behind the scenes. Boisvert received an International President’s Appreciation Award for his volunteerism.
