SENIORS COUNT WORKSHOP
The next Seniors Count Workshop will be held at 1 p.m. July 13 at the Nashua Senior Activity Center, 70 Temple St. "Using Facebook to keep in touch with loved ones" will provide information on ways to use this popular on-line tool to connect with family and friends. Participants can come early to enjoy lunch offered by St. Joseph Community Services (Meals on Wheels). A $2 donation is requested for diners age 60 and over; the price is slightly higher for those under 60. Preregistration for lunch is required by calling Steve, SJCS site manager, at 882-2106. Lunch is served at 11:45 a.m.
AARP SMART DRIVER PROGRAM
The AARP Smart Driver Program is the nation’s first and largest refresher course designed specifically for older drivers. It provides the latest research-based information to help you update your driving knowledge and skills. The class will be held 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. July 13-14 (two-day class) at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, 2300 Southwood Drive, Conference Room AB. $15 for AARP members, $20 for nonmembers payable by check only (made out to AARP). Most insurance companies offer a discount for taking this class. Coffee will be provided. ‘STRESS VS. FORGETFULNESS VS. DEMENTIA’ WORKSHOP
Dementia does not have to be scary. Join us from 10:30-11:30 a.m. July 22 at the Nashua Senior Activity Center as Patsy Wolber, PT, M.Ed., chief operations officer for the Center for Physical Therapy, discusses completing a "My Way" form stating your preferences in all areas of self-care and other effective ways to promote functional independence, well-being and safety. Reserve a seat by signing up at the front desk of the Senior Activity Center, 70 Temple St. This workshop and all materials are free for members and $10 for nonmembers. Information: 889-6155. BUILD A STRONGER YOU!
Learn how to successfully implement simple resistive exercises into your daily routine to build a stronger you for the future. This free workshop will be held 6-8 p.m. Aug. 3 at St. Joseph Hospital, 172 Kinsley St. Please bring canned goods to use as your own free weights. If you wish, we can then have your canned goods donated to a local food pantry. Participation is encouraged, so wear comfortable clothing, bring water and a towel or yoga mat.
