EMILY PEASE
The Horseshoe Fish and Game Club in Merrimack announced the award of a $1,000 scholarship to Emily Pease toward her attendance of the University of Rhode Island. Pease is scheduled to graduate from Nashua High School South on June 14 with an impressive list of class activities, volunteer events, employment experiences and academic achievements. Her many hours of community service included outdoor activities.
JARED BERNSON
GROTON, Mass. – During Lawrence Academy’s Cum Laude Day celebrations on April 29, three seniors from southern New Hampshire were inducted into the school’s chapter of the Cum Laude Society, including Jared Bernson, of Nashua. With academic achievement as its main criterion, the national Cum Laude Society requires that its members have also demonstrated good character, honor and integrity in all aspects of their school life.
SHAYNE RUSSELL
The Massachusetts AFL-CIO finished scoring the annual union scholarship exam, and Shayne Russell, a student at Nashua High School South, received a $1,000 award from Laborers Local 560. Russell was one of 200 students who received union college and vocational scholarships in Massachusetts this year.
ALEAH ASHLEY PEFFER
Aleah Ashley Peffer, of Hudson, a senior at Alvirne High School and daughter of Anne and Robert Peffer, was one of nine high school graduates awarded a four-year University Scholarship by Duke University in Durham, N.C. Each scholarship’s total value over four years is estimated to be more than $250,000.
MATTHEW HOPFENSPIRGER
At a ceremony held recently at the Statehouse, Steve Hackley, senior vice president of Comcast’s Greater Boston region, was joined by New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan to present Souhegan High School senior Matthew Hopfenspirger and 30 other high school seniors from across the state $1,000 scholarshipd. The Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program annually recognizes students who have shown leadership skills, academic achievement and a commitment to community service.
