Alvirne thespians inducted, presented awards

HUDSON – The induction ceremony for the International Thespian Society, Chapter 6986, was held at Alvirne High School on April 15.

Chapter 6986 was chartered in 2006, and is dedicated to bringing the best of high school theater to Alvirne and the Hudson community.

Chapter director Jennifer LaFrance, with the assistance of Lauren Denis and Marianne Hedges, leads this group of dedicated young people as they stage several productions during the school year and a summer Shakespeare in Performance class, as well.

LaFrance welcomed the inductees, members, guests and especially the OnStage parents to the ceremony. School board member Patty Langlais also welcomed everyone, and congratulated the new inductees and award recipients.

Josh Carter, Alvirne and Class Act alumnus from 2013, spoke to the audience about his experiences in high school theater and how those experiences have benefitted him in college and his plans for the future.

During a candle-lighting ceremony, advisers and members of the Class Act board explained the symbolism of each candle representing all aspects of the theater: Thespis, the first actor; dance/pantomime; music; speech; dramatic literature; and drama.

Because of their participation in Class Act productions as actors or tech crew, these new members were inducted:

Amanda Bergeron, Jameson Bloom, Maddison Daigle, Ariel Doerr, Samantha Ducharme, Jake Dunkle, Tyler Gagnon, Bradley Garcia, Jackie Hoagland, Andrew Hotham, Corinne Prestia, Nikole St. Germain, Casey Williamson and Alyson Zaker.

These members were awarded stars representing their continued participation as actors and/or tech crew:

Amanda Bergeron, Ariel Doerr, Sean Farrell, Courtney Langlais, Alison Lantagne, Hannah Noonan, Kess Partridge, Corinne Prestia, Nikole St. Germain, Brianna Thompson, Maggie Woolsey and Tom Woolsey.

Maggie Woolsey and Brianna Thompson were recognized as regional thespian officers serving as student leaders in the New Hampshire Thespians and Northeast Thespians.

The International Thespian Society recognizes academic excellence, as well as excellence in the theater.

These students were awarded thespian scholar pins:

Andrew Hotham, Courtney Langlais, Allison Lantagne, Corinne Prestia and Brianna Thompson.

These students were awarded vice president’s list thespian scholar pins for a GPA of 3.5 or higher:

Alison Griego, Jackie Hoagland, Nikole St. Germain and Maggie Woolsey.

Kess Partridge was awarded the president’s list thespian scholar pin for maintaining a GPA of 4.0.

Seniors Samantha Driscoll and Tom Woolsey were presented graduation stoles, which they will wear with their caps and gowns at graduation.

The Class Act spring production is “High School Musical,” which will be performed at Alvirne from Friday-Sunday, May 15-17. Tickets are available at seatyourself.biz.
