Achievements by kids in Greater Nashua

Here is a listing of achievements by youths from Greater Nashua:

HAZEN SOUCY

Hazen Soucy, an eighth-grade student at Milford Middle School, received a national medal in the 2015 Scholastic Art Awards for his drawing “Radio Flyer.” The Gold Key winning artwork from the state level goes onto the adjudication process at the national level. National medalists and educators are invited to attend the national ceremony at Carnegie Hall on Thursday, June 11.

ABBY FORRENCE

Abby Forrence, a seventh-grade student at Milford Middle School, was selected as the Fuel Up to Play 60 national ambassador for the 2015-16 school year. As the national ambassador, Abby will represent New England at the FUTP60 Summit in Chicago this summer.

JADE DELEON

Jade deLeon, a seventh-grade student at Milford Middle School, was accepted to participate in the New Hampshire Band Directors Association middle level honors band, which performed at Pinkerton Academy in Derry on March 20, and in the Middle School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall in New York City at the end of June. This will be the first time a student from Milford Middle School has attended either of these festivals. The series at Carnegie Hall showcases the most talented middle school performers from across the U.S., Canada and select international schools. Jade will spend several days of rehearsal under the direction of renowned music conductors before the performance at Carnegie Hall.

KEVIN O’SULLIVAN

Kevin O’Sullivan, of Milford, was named to the high honor roll for the second trimester of the 2014-15 academic year at Williston Northampton School in Easthampton, Mass. The coeducational boarding and day school is for students in seventh grade through postgraduate year.

KATIE HOWELL

Katie Howell, 15, of Nashua, will attend Interlochen (Mich.) Arts Camp, a summer arts program for aspiring artists in grades 3-12. Howell, the daughter of Ian and Julia Howell, will study creative writing at the camp. Howell, a freshman at Bishop Guertin High School, will be returning to the camp for her third summer. She is a class officer at BG, a member of the Latin Club, writes for the school newspaper, sings in the honors concert chorus and is a member of the ensemble for her school’s spring musical of “Fiddler on the Roof,” which will be performed May 8-9. In June, before attending camp, she hopes to test for her third-degree black belt in taekwondo at Master An’s in Bedford.
