Greater Nashua students in NDA production of ‘Beauty and the Beast’

TYNGSBOROUGH, Mass. – The Academy of Notre Dame Drama Guild announced one of the largest casts in NDA history for the spring musical performance of “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr.”

A total of 29 students will be involved, not counting those who are helping with artwork.

“We are so excited to be performing this classic,” said the play director and Drama Guild adviser, Amy Basbas.

“Not only is the cast large,
but they are working incredibly hard. We’re expecting a big turnout.”

The cast includes Clare Newman, Caroline Dumas and Katie Frisoli, Littleton; Margeaux Jacobi, Rosemary Mulvey, Sarah Piela and Brittany Hebert, Nashua; Samantha Phillips and Sophia Lafontaine, Dracut; Caroline Xu, Claire Bao and Hannah Paquette, Tyngsborough; Emily Keefe, Westford; Sabrina Nguyen and Jacky Bethea, Hudson; Holly Gonyea, Callan Decew, Leakana Ly and Zora Harley, Lowell; Justine Aho, Pelham; Catherine Bee, Groton; Grainne and Treasa Casey, Pepperell; Marilyn Hrytsay, Merrimack; Delia Regan, Methuen; Caitlin Durkin, North Andover; Morgan Engdahl, Chelmsford; and high school faculty member Tim Butler.

The play is based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature by the same name.

The classic story tells of a young woman in a provincial town, Belle, and a young prince who is trapped under the spell of an enchantress, the Beast.

If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self.

However, if the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday, April 10, and 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, April 11. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. They may be reserved by emailing ndadramaguild@gmail.com.
