By Staff | Mar 22, 2015

MILFORD – Milford Middle School students and staff recently participated in their 12th annual Hoops for Heart Extravaganza to raise money for the American Heart Association.

Ninety-six students participated in a variety of basketball and hula-hoop activities. Coaches and players of the girls and boys high school basketball programs, along with middle school staff, volunteered to help score, officiate and oversee the contests, games and the activities.

Students raised more than $2,705. This was the most raised in the 12 years of participating in the program.

In return for each pledge, students participated in a variety of basketball-related contests for the first hour, and a 3-on-3 tournament during the second hour.

Students were able to shake their groove with “Dance Dance Revolution,” and participate in cup stacking, jump rope and hula-hoop contests.

Prizes were given for the various competitions and trophies to the 3-on-3 winners of each division.

Sydney Kolasinski, Julie Abbott, Meghan Wood, Sean Lewis and Camden Cook took the top spots for raising
money for the American Heart Association.

Refreshments for participants were donated by the Fuel Up to Play 60 Club. Prizes were donated by the club and the American Heart Association.

Hudson Trophy, of Nashua, donated the trophies.
