Greater Nashua students invited to join London theater trip

By Staff | Feb 26, 2015

MILFORD – It’s difficult to imagine anything summery right now, but local students are planning for a theater trip to London in July.

Milford High School music teacher Jennifer Erdody, who is also involved with the Boys & Girls Club’s Riverbend Youth Company, will lead a group of music and theater students on a six-day London theatrical experience, a repeat of a trip she ran in 2013.

“I love to give students an opportunity to explore beyond their classroom, beyond their hometown,” Erdody said. “These London theater trips are perfect for students, because so many kids are interested in all things British and feel very comfortable with the culture.”

In addition to attending two West End shows, students will have an intensive theater workshop, a tour of Shakespeare’s Globe Theater and a Globe Theater interactive workshop.

“The Shakespeare experience was a highlight of the trip last time we went,” Erdody said. “The professor leading the workshop had the kids up and acting, doing improv, and laughing and enjoying Shakespeare the way he meant for it to be enjoyed.”

Students also will have guided tours of London, including stops at Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and outdoor markets, and will have free time to visit sites such as the Sherlock Holmes Museum, Harry Potter’s Platform 9¾ and other London attractions.

“We went up on the London Eye at dusk, the whole group of us, and it was so beautiful to look out over the city,” Milford High School student Anastasia Feraco said. “And I loved seeing ‘Phantom of the Opera’ in London.”

The trip will leaves from Boston in mid-July. Enrollment is still open. Students from the area, including home-schooled students, are welcome. High school students may travel with the group on their own, and students entering sixth and seventh grades must travel with an adult family member.
