ASD in Nashua celebrates 100th day of school by giving back
NASHUA – Part of the mission of the Academy for Science and Design is to create responsible global citizens, and as such, ASD periodically organizes service projects that support the school’s humanitarian efforts.
For our its most recent schoolwide service project, ASD partnered with Families in Transition, a nonprofit dedicated to fighting homelessness in Manchester, Concord and Dover.
ASD celebrated 100 days of school (which was Wednesday, Feb. 11) by challenging each advisory class to collect 100 items of canned goods or baby food. Many advisories collected more than 100 items.
Jeff Bartel, Families in Transition outreach coordinator, picked up the canned goods and baby food the students collected. ASD collected well over 1,500 items, with seven advisories reaching the goal of collecting 100 items or more.
Bartel said this donation would more than double what it had on hand for families in need.
The Academy for Science and Design is seeking to partner with local companies and businesses for student-centered events such as internships in science, technology, engineering and math fields, financial donations and/or as presenters for the school’s SPARK Conferences.
