BOSTON UNIVERSITY
These local students were awarded academic degrees by Boston University in September:
FROM AMHERST: Eric L. Bullock received a Master of Arts in environmental remote sensing and geographic information systems.
FROM HOLLIS: Kerri A. Morin Whitehead received a Doctor of Physical Therapy in physical therapy.
Natalie R. Coviello received a Doctor of Physical Therapy in physical therapy.
CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY
Sean Carpenter, of Hollis, a student at Concordia University in Seward, Neb., was chosen to play the part of the sinfonia conductor in the college’s musical production of “The Phantom of the Opera” from Nov. 8-15 in Concordia’s Weller Hall auditorium.
EASTERN CONNECTICUT STATE UNIVERSITY
Harrison Urda, of Milford, a physical education major at Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, recently participated in a Poverty Awareness Marathon with fellow students and faculty. The goal of the marathon, organized by the Center for Community Engagement, was to collect 462 nonperishable food items to donate to the Covenant Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry in Willimantic. More than 300 students participated. A donation was required to register for the 26.5-mile run around campus. Participants were encouraged to come and go as their schedule permitted. They collectively completed more than 667 miles and collected 561 food items.
SAINT ANSELM COLLEGE
Saint Anselm College senior Susan Watkins, a philosophy major from Merrimack, played Claire Ganz in the college’s student performance of Neil Simon’s “Rumors.” The farcical play was performed by the Abbey Players at the Dana Center from Nov. 6-8. Aside from her involvement with the Abbey Players, Watkins is involved with the student literary magazine and has written for the student newspaper. She is also earning a minor in theater.
