Greater Nashua students performing in ‘Peter Pan’
MANCHESTER – The Derryfield Middle School Players will take flight at 7 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Nov. 7-8, when they present the classic story of the boy who refused to grow up – “Peter Pan.”
Derryfield, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, has staged the show about once every decade since its founding in 1964, the first time in 1971 and most recently in 2004. The story is a musical romp for children of all ages, yet with an underlying tension between the innocence of childhood and the responsibility of adulthood.
These students will be part of the performance: Antonio Imbriano, Alison Daniel, Emma Doherty and Julia Tilton, of Amherst; Tyler Critz and Nattalie Witt, of Hollis; Will Perkins, of Merrimack; Olivia Bollengier and Emma Stahly, of Londonderry; and Bella Matarese, Lindsey Stagg, Olivia Strong and Mark Rotering, of Windham.
The students will actually “take flight” Thanks to Flying By Foy, the company that does the flying and special effects for numerous Broadway shows, including “Mary Poppins,” “The Lion King” and “Phantom of the Opera.” The company will take care of the setup, training and operation of all of the equipment.
Tickets are $12. They’re available at etix.com or at the door.
A reception for the artists whose works are on display in the Lyceum Gallery will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. Nov. 7. All are welcome to attend prior to the show.
