College achievements by Greater Nashua students

SERA KELLEY STACKPOLE

Sera Kelley Stackpole, daughter of Rock and Charlene Stackpole, of Nashua, was recently inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society at the Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire. Beta Gamma Sigma is the premier honor society for students majoring in business administration.

ANDREA JEAN BERGERON

Andrea Jean Bergeron, of Nashua, received the Excellence in Economics Award at Bryant University’s 151st commencement in May.

The award is presented to the senior with the highest grade point average in the major. She was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in Economics: Economics and Marketing, summa cum laude.

Bryant University is in Smithfield, R.I.

ZACHARY PETERS

Zachary Peters, of Nashua, a first-year student majoring in mathematical sciences, was named a Charles O. Thompson Scholar for the 2013-14 academic year at Worcester (Mass.) Polytechnic Institute. Named in honor of the first president of WPI, this honor recognizes outstanding performance by first-year students.

BRIANA ROGERS

Brianna Rogers, of Nashua, was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y. The senior majored in dance.

REBECCA FERMAN

Rebecca Ferman, a senior from Nashua, along with the four other executive team members of Stelaire, a fictitious airline, received the 2014 Business Capstone Award at the annual Colby-Sawyer College Scholars and Leaders Ceremony in May.

The team began the semester with appropriate and accurate business decisions based on quantitative and qualitative analysis. The team focused on each area of business, including financial, management, human resources, marketing, operations and ethics. Each team member demonstrated exceptional written and verbal communication skills during the final annual stockholders meeting at the 2014 Susan Colby Colgate Scholars Symposium in April.

The Capstone experience differs from major to major, but its purpose is to ensure that all seniors demonstrate their accumulated knowledge through action and effectively communicate their knowledge and actions to others in an interdisciplinary setting.

Colby-Sawyer College is in New London.

VICTORIA COLBERT

Victoria Colbert, of Nashua, a student at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, completed an internship as an accounts manager at the college’s Campus Recreation Center.

Colbert, a senior in the Manning School of Business studying finance, was responsible for managing the center’s accounts, including daily deposits and monthly reconciliations.

MACKENZIE TURNBULL

Washington College in Chestertown, Md., announced that Mackenzie Turnbull, daughter of Carolyn Choate-Turnbull and Gordon Turnbull Jackson, of Nashua, recently participated in the senior thesis production of “Bachelorette,” written by Leslye Headland. Turnbull is majoring in French and drama and minoring in history.

JESSICA BELIVEAU

Jessica Beliveau, of Amherst, was honored for her outstanding contributions to service and campus life at the 2014 Student Life Awards in April at Stonehill College in Easton, Mass.

Beliveau received the Vice President’s Award, presented to students who have enhanced the quality of campus life through their involvement in cocurricular programs, innovative contributions to campus morale and dedicated service; the Saint Andre Medal, presented to seniors who most exemplify Catholic ideals of prayer, scholarship, virtuous living, moral leadership, the common good and preferential opinion for the poor and marginalized; and the 2013-14 SGA Executive Board Recognition Award. Beliveau was the executive president of the Student Government Association.

DANIEL PALLIES

Union College Prize Day in May honored students for achievement in academics, research, service and governance. Daniel Pallies, of Brookline, was awarded the Harold A. Larrabee Prize, which goes to the student who has done the best work in philosophy during the year. Pallies is a member of the Class of 2015 at Union College, which is in Schenectady, N.Y.
