College achievements by Greater Nashua students

AUBRIANNE LADUKE

Aubrianne LaDuke, of Litchfield, a student majoring in Writing for Film and TV at Emerson College in Boston, was chosen to represent the college in the inaugural membership induction to the 2013-14 Purple Key Leadership Society. Recipients of this honor have demonstrated exceptional leadership and service, solid academic achievement, and a commitment to civic engagement.

Purple Key Leadership Society recipients were recognized and honored during the college’s annual Emerson Recognition and Achievement Awards ceremony on Sunday, April 13.

LaDuke also was recently inducted into the Gold Key Honor Society. LaDuke is a senior majoring in writing for film and TV.

PLYMOUTH STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS NAMED TO WHO’S WHO

These local Plymouth State University students have been named to prestigious Who’s Who of American Colleges and Universities:

FROM MERRIMACK: Edward Fleming, James Lawson.

FROM MILFORD: Emily Getchell-Lacey.

FROM NASHUA: Evan Gaudette.

CHRISTOPHER BLOCK

Saint Anselm College student and Merrimack resident Christopher Block, a freshman communication major, traveled with the college choir during spring break to perform in churches throughout central Europe.

The group’s musical tour included stops in Budapest, Hungary; Bratislava, Slovakia; Prague, Czech Republic; and Berlin, Germany where they performed concerts and sang at Mass. They also toured Benedictine Abbey of Pannonhalma Archabbey in Hungary and other historic sites.

GEORGE LOUZEK

George Louzek, a Hollis resident and student at Nichols College in Dudley, Mass., has taken a semester abroad at Academic Programs International in Budpest, Hungary.

Elizabeth Pockl, of Merrimack, a senior at Keene State College, was recently awarded the school’s Outstanding Senior Service Award. The awards recognize unselfish service to the college or the community, outstanding leadership, major contributions to the improvement of the quality of student life, and exceptional or unique contributions to Keene State College.

SEAN CARPENTER

Music will fill the air this spring as four ensembles from Concordia University, Nebraska perform end-of-the-semester concerts: male chorus, women’s chorale, university concert band and brass ensemble. A local student performing in the concerts is Sean Carpenter, a junior from Hollis, singing Bass I in male chorus and playing piano in jazz ensemble.

Melanie Brayman, of Amherst, was recently inducted into Stonehill College’s Lambda Epsilon Sigma Honor Society for juniors and seniors. The college is in Easton, Mass.

LOCAL STUDENTS IN KEENE STATE’S ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE CONFERENCE

Keene State College’s 14th annual Academic Excellence Conference took place on April 5. This student professional conference is designed to showcase the academic work of Keene State students and the collaborative work between students and faculty. Local students who participated were:

ISABELLE LIMONDIN

Isabelle Limondin, of Milford, a student at Alma (Mich.) College, participated in the college’s annual Kapp Honors Day program on April 3. This day provides a forum when traditional classes are canceled and students share their original research, creativity and talents with an audience of their peers. Limondin presented “Nicest Thing,” a dance performance.

Ashley Riendeau, of Lyndeborough, was recently initiated into Plymouth State University’s chapter of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.
