BROOKLINE – Beth Krommes, a 2009 Caldecott Award-winning illustrator, visited Captain Samuel Douglass Academy recently to talk about winning the Caldecott Medal, how she makes her artwork and her latest book.

Krommes uses the scratch board technique to produce images similar to wood engravings.

Krommes’ books include “The House in the Night” by Susan Swanson and her most recent book, “Blue on Blue” by Dianne White.
