Club at Elm Street Middle School makes cookies for Nashua Soup Kitchen
NASHUA – Club Phenomenon is an after-school club organized by seventh- and eighth-grade social studies teacher Jon-Michael Pearson at Elm Street Middle School.
The club’s goal is to help the community of Nashua by volunteering at various organizations.
One community effort was to make cookies for the less fortunate, whose primary source of food is the Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter. We partnered with the residents of the Hunt Community to frost and decorate cookies to donate to the Soup Kitchen.
The residents seemed to enjoy the company and the idea of being able to help someone. We appreciated the time they took out of their day to come and help the club’s efforts.
We later learned from the Soup Kitchen manager that the diners were very appreciative of the effort. One gentleman said it was a nice feeling that others were thinking of people like him and taking the time to decorate cookies.
The students who helped said it was a great experience, and that they would gladly do it again.
Club Phenomenon will continue to strive to make a difference in our community.
