RISE re-elects officers during March meeting in Nashua
NASHUA – The Rivier Institute for Senior Education held its annual meeting Monday, March 10, at Rivier University.
Officers re-elected for 2014-15 were President Louise O’Connell, Vice President Cheryl Cummings, Secretary Mary Bock and Treasurer Timothy Twombly.
The $1,000 RISE Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Laura Aloisi, a graduate student with a 4.0 GPA who’s majoring in school counseling. The scholarship is awarded annually based on financial need to a full- or part-time Rivier student.
A slide show created by Cynthia Geiger and Jim Leonard featured various classes and activities. Displays of art, crafts and writing from fall and spring classes were exhibited.
The RISE program, tailored for “learning in retirement,” is in its 17th year. Fall course brochures will be mailed to RISE members in late summer.
Individuals older than 55 are welcome to learn more about the program by contacting RISE at rise@rivier.edu or 897-8623, or by visiting www.rivier.edu/rise or www.facebook.com/rise1997.
