Scholarships available to Greater Nashua students

NASHUA

NASHUA HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1974 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Nashua High School Alumni Class of 1974 is accepting applications for its annual memorial scholarship. This year, in honor of their 40th high school reunion, a total of up to $4,000 will be awarded to one or more students. Candidate must be a senior at Nashua North or South or a graduating child of NHS Class of ’74 alumni. Applications: NHS North and South guidance departments or by sending an SASE to Class of ’74, 3 Mitchell St., Nashua, NH 03064. Deadline: May 7.

AMHERST

COLLEGE-BOUND HISTORY STUDENT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Historical Society of Amherst is seeking high school seniors who have an interest and aptitude in history to apply for its annual Marion Young Memorial Scholarship, named in honor of a longtime member and the original chairwoman of the scholarship committee. Applicants must be Amherst residents who will be enrolling in a postsecondary school to pursue a major in history or a related field. The scholarship is for $1,500. BEDFORD

CRAFTWORKERS’ GUILD SCHOLARSHIP

The Craftworkers’ Guild offers an annual scholarship to a Bedford High School student who will be continuing his or her education in the arts. Applications: at the school and at www.thecraftworkersguild.org. Deadline: April 27. Applications must include a high school transcript and a brief DVD portfolio that showcases the applicant’s creative interests and accomplishments. HOLLIS WOMAN’S CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

The Hollis Woman’s Club’s annual Alternative Scholarship Award application is available. The $1,000 scholarship is open to a woman who is working toward completing a program or degree that will help her learn a new skill or to return to or advance in a job. HOLLIS FIRE DEPARTMENT SCHOLARSHIP

Applications for the Hollis Firemen’s Association’s Warren H. Towne Memorial Scholarship are available at Hollis Brookline High School and the Hollis Fire Station. The scholarship is to be awarded to a senior who is a Hollis resident. Deadline: 4 p.m. April 11 at the Hollis Fire Station.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS

Scholarship America Dollars for Scholars is a national network of more than 800 community-based scholarship foundations serving 2,600 communities across the United States. Hollis Brookline Dollars for Scholars helps local students achieve their educational goals by raising scholarship funds, establishing endowments and distributing scholarships. Applicants can learn about the two types of scholarships available and apply at www.hollisbrookline.dollarsforscholars.org. Deadline: May 6. The Hollis Brookline Dollars for Scholars receives donations from local individuals every year, and have the assistance and support of the Hollis Brookline High School guidance department. MANCHESTER

FISHER CATS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

The application process is open for the 2014 Fisher Cats Foundation Scholar-Athlete Scholarships. Each award will be $2,500 and will include recognition at a Fisher Cats game during the 2014 season. Applications: nhfishercats.com or nhcf.org. Deadline: 5 p.m. May 2.

MERRIMACK

MHS SCHOLARSHIP AND AWARD PROGRAM

College-bound seniors at Merrimack High School may pick up scholarship applications in the guidance office or at www.merrimack.k12.nh.us/mhs. This year, there will be about 100 awards totaling roughly $80,000. Deadline: 3 p.m. March 28. Information: Kathy Sketchley, 424-6204, ext. 2.

MERRIMACK CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SCHOLARSHIP

Applications are available for the 2014 Merrimack Chamber of Commerce Scholarship, which is awarded to high school seniors based on academic achievement, extracurricular activity and community service. Special consideration is given to students with an entrepreneurial spirit. Applicants must be employed by or be the dependent of an employee of a member of the Merrimack Chamber of Commerce. MILFORD

MILFORD HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

About 100 college scholarships from local community groups, companies and school organizations are available to Milford High School seniors bound for two- and four-year colleges or certificate programs. Applications can either be picked up at the Student Services office or downloaded at mhs.milfordk12.org. Applications will be available March 26. Deadline: 2:30 p.m. April 10. Scholarship winners will be recognized at the annual Scholarship Awards Night in June. Information: 673-4523.

PELHAM

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY LAUNCH SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Friends of the Pelham Public Library established two $500 scholarships for the 2014-15 school year. There will be one scholarship for a traditional student and one for a nontraditional student (older than 24). Applicants must be Pelham residents and are asked to submit a one-page essay on how the library has affected their career or school achievements. REGIONAL

PLAN NH SCHOLARSHIP AND FELLOWSHIP AWARDS

Plan NH is accepting applications for its annual Scholarship and Fellowship Awards, which, in partnership with the N.H. Charitable Foundation, recognize outstanding students from New Hampshire who are in undergraduate or graduate studies programs related to sustainable planning, design and/or development of the built environment. Eligible students must call New Hampshire home, but may be studying at any accredited college or university. Information and application: www.plannh.org; click on “Scholarship.” Deadline: April 4.

DUNKIN’ DONUTS NEW HAMPSHIRE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The 19th annual Dunkin’ Donuts New Hampshire Scholarship Program is accepting applications. A total of $30,000 in scholarships will be awarded to 11 motivated New Hampshire high school seniors. Deadline: April 15. Recipients and their parents will be invited by Dunkin’ Donuts to an event to honor their achievements in June at WMUR in Manchester. Information: dunkindonuts.com/scholarship.
