FITCHBURG, Mass. – Lauren Lassila, of Hollis, N.H., performed an improvisational solo on flute during the holiday concert at Applewild School.

Lauren, an eighth-grader, is a member of the jazz band, the symphonic wind ensemble band and the American Music Ensemble chorus.
