MERRIMACK – Allegations including sexual relations with a minor and “obtaining numerous sexually explicit images from a minor via electronic communication” led to the arrest Wednesday by Merrimack police of a 22-year-old Milford man.

Police said Logan Chaput, of 60 Crosby St., was identified as the suspect in the alleged incidents through the course of an investigation conducted by the Merrimack police Criminal Investigation Bureau.

Upon taking him into custody, police charged Chaput with manufacture of child sexual abuse images and attempted manufacture of child sexual abuse images, both of which are classified at special felonies.

He was also charged with one count each of felonious sexual assault, a Class B felony, and sexual assault, a Class A misdemeanor, according to police.

Police didn’t specify the alleged victim’s age except to say it is under age 16.

After he was booked on the charges, police said Chaput refused bail and was held overnight pending Thursday’s arraignment.

Police said Chaput, at the arraignment, was granted personal recognizance bail, with conditions that he refrain from unsupervised contact with minors.

The date of Chaput’s next court appearance isn’t known.

Police ask anyone who may have additional information on this case, or other, similar cases, to contact Detective Jeff Sprankle at 424-3774.
