LONDONDERRY – The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) announced Friday an educational grant of $2000 for the Londonderry Foundation for STEM Education to support science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programs offered to the Londonderry community’s students. They were joined by Speaker of the House, Representative Sherman Packard, for the announcement.

PhRMA partnered with Londonderry STEM to bring this vital funding to local students. The grant will support science, technology, engineering, math, and related disciplines like business, marketing, and technical arts, educational initiatives, enrichment activities, and programs targeted at Londonderry youth. This educational grant will support age-appropriate STEM educational activities offered for students in grades K-12.

Speaker of the House, Rep. Sherman Packard, said, “The need for STEM educational opportunities grows every day. I am happy to see the Londonderry students have greater access to such a valuable program here in our backyard.”

Brendan McLeod, President of Londonderry STEM, said, “We appreciate the support from the Speaker and everyone that has helped to foster more STEM learning programs for the students of Londonderry.”

“PhRMA represents the country’s top biopharmaceutical research companies that allow the United States to be a leader in innovation, particularly in the fight to combat COVID-19. Programs like this are an excellent way for students to develop an interest in STEM careers. PhRMA is proud to support the Londonderry STEM program and their commitment to offering students quality STEM education opportunities,” said Jasmine Gossett, PhRMA.
