Growing pains
By Susanna Hargreaves
Every night before I go to sleep
I can feel my heart beat
Before the darkness fades to dreams
I say my prayers
for my family
Then, I imagine golden light
around each and every one of them
to protect them
and keep them safe,
yet
now
my oldest child sleeps in a new place
He is no longer my child
He is a grown man
And his whole life is ahead of him
I’m tired and need to sleep
I bless him on his journey
I surround him with golden light
May he have peaceful dreams
May he believe in golden light
And remember he is loved and protected
Good night
