Suffrage event is Sunday
NASHUA – The 100th anniversary of the Women’s Suffrage Movement is here. Following 70-plus years of protests, marching, lobbying and effort by women leaders, the right to vote was secured for women across America when the 19th Amendment was ratified by 36 of then-48 United States on Aug. 18, 1920, and added to the U.S. Constitution a week later on Aug. 26, 1920.
Nashua Mayor Jim Donchess is marking this historic occasion with a virtual suffrage event on Sunday at 2 p.m. Broadcast live on Mayor Donchess’ Facebook page and on Nashua CTV Channel 16.
