Free online music classes

By Staff | Aug 15, 2020

MANCHESTER – There is no doubt COVID-19 has changed many aspects of daily life, but at the Manchester Community Music School we believe the music must play on! To help keep music students of all ages playing, singing, and learning the Music School is offering some free online classes for the fall. Class offerings will include:

Woodwind fundamentals for student’s grades 6-12. Open to flute and clarinet students who have had at least one year of study, this class will help build fundamentals of playing, introduce new scales and finger patterns, and instrumental solos.

Music theory classes for all ages and levels of ability. Students will learn how music is created and why certain sounds are harmonious while other sounds are dissonant. Beginner level students will cover note names, intervals, and scales. Intermediate students will examine composer styles, chord progressions, and topics of interest to the class.

2G chorus for student’s grades 3-8. Second Generation Manchester Choral Society will provide a space for young people to connect socially and participate in song and movement activities that develop individual singing skills, improvisation, and creativity. As a culmination of the program, participants will have the opportunity to contribute to the creation of a virtual choir project, which will be shared with parents and the public.

Space is Limited. For more information, contact Daisy Wojewoda at daisy@mcmusicschool.org.
